I love sad songs. When I'm feelin' blue, down in the dumps, just plain gloomy, nothing makes me happier than wallowing in it with some super-duper, potentially-suicide-inducing, depressing music.

So, since I love lists and am not depressed right now, I'm feeling generous, and have chosen 20 of my favorite sad songs to share with you. I've included links for as many of them as I could, although some are weird versions because that was all I could find in the amount of time I was willing to spend looking. I was going to embed the videos, but that takes up too much space. If you're too lazy to click on the links and discover awesome sad music, then you don't deserve the gift of these songs anyway. Here yous go (in no particular order):

1. No One's Gonna Love You (Band of Horses):

2. Bigfoot (The Weakerthans):

3. Skinny Love (Bon Iver):

4. Samson (Regina Spektor):

5. I Can't Make You Love Me (Denison Witmer) - he's covering a Bonnie Raitt song and it's f-ing amazing:

6. Do What You Gotta Do (Okkervil River) - another cover, this time of a Nina Simone song. Also, so so good:

7. Brothers on a Hotel Bed (Death Cab for Cutie):

8. Further North (Jets to Brazil):

9. Silenced by Cars (Outsmarting Simon): couldn't find a link for this one

10. Inmates (The Good Life):

11. Better in Manhattan (Casey Dienel):

12. Forever (Ben Harper):

13. Stay or Leave (Dave Matthews - yes, that one):

14. I Remember (Damien Rice):

15. If It's The Beaches (The Avett Brothers):

16. Maps - acoustic (Yeah Yeah Yeahs):

17. It'll Be A Breeze (The Long Winters): couldn't find the real version, so this is Ben Gibbard from Death Cab for Cutie covering it...

18. Shirts and Gloves (Dashboard Confessional):

19. You Are All I Have (Hayden):

20. Little Hands (Duncan Sheik): couldn't find the real version, so here's some random cover...

BONUS TRACK! - I Can Feel Your Pain (Manchester Orchestra):

Alright, be sure to write a thorough suicide note. You don't want to leave any questions you can't come back and answer, you know . . . or do you? . . .

Amendment: Obviously, I could add a lot more songs to this list, but a couple that I forgot and felt must be included are, "I Just Don't Think I'll Ever Get Over You" by Colin Hay, "The District Sleeps Alone Tonight" by The Postal Service, and "Stay Away" by The Honorary Title ( ). (Special thanks to Huany...)
